HOW TO REACH NERIST, NIRJULI, ITANAGAR, ARUNACHAL PRADESH (INDIA)

Located at a distance of 400 km (approx.) from Guwahati, the Institute can be accessed by rail, road or air. Super Deluxe buses from Guwahati are available daily. Taxies can also be hired at Guwahati for coming to the Institute. An overnight Intercity Express and Shatabdi Express (thrice in a week) connect Guwahati-Naharlagun which is the nearest railway station and is about 18

 

BY BUS

There is daily overnight bus from Guwahati (Assam) to Nirjuli (NERIST). Book your ticket for Nirjuli, not Itanagar and also ask for the bus that enters Arunachal Pradesh from Banderdewa. This is the best way to get there. When you enter Arunachal Pradesh at Banderdewa, all the passengers have to get off the bus for checking permit. The Delegate/ Participant has just show them the letter of acceptance. There, tell the bus driver that you have to get off at NERIST. It will be about half an hour journey from there to NERIST. You will get off right in front of the main gate.

 

BY AIR

Lilabari in Assam is the nearest airport at a distance of 67 km. There are connecting flights to Guwahati from Lilabari. Flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Ahmadabad, etc. operate to Guwahati. Taxis and buses are available from Guwahati to reach Itanagar. Pawan Hans operates helicopter services from Guwahati to Itanagar thrice a week. Kolkata is the nearest international airport at a distance of 760 km.

 

BY TRAIN

Harmuti is the nearest railway station at a distance of 33 km. Harmuti is a narrow guage line. A convenient option to reach Itanagar would be North Lakhimpur (60 km). Trains from North Lakhimpur connect to Guwahati which is well connected to most major parts of the country. Moreover, there are three trains to Naharlagun station from Guwahati. 1.Shatabdi Express (running on alternate days) 2. Doni polo express (all days) 3. Lachit Express (all days). The last station is the Naharlagun station. From there bus is always waiting to go either to Nirjuli or to Itanagar.
